Doha - Souq Waqif

This atmospheric cultural village sits between West Bay and The Pearl, and comprises dozens of sand-coloured buildings, tastefully constructed in Arab style and linked by shaded alleys. The enormous Greek/Islamic-style amphitheatre at its centre seats up to 5000 people, and has views out to the sea. The complex also contains art galleries, an opera house, two beautiful mosques and many restaurants.

Most people visit Katara during the cooler evenings and for designated events at the numerous venues. There's a beach at Katara's eastern end, with water sports and inflatable play structures for children. During the heat of the day, drivers whizz visitors around the complex on free golf carts.
